Edge of Heaven directed by Fatih Akin.
The destiny of an old man, his girlfriend, her daughter, the daughter girlfriend and his son. The story set between Germany and Turkey. All these characters cross each other for a dark future that ends by death.It is a pessimist movie about life.

Akin an admirer of Fassbinder ( The marriage of Maria Brown ) got help to write the script from his friend the Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu ( Amores Perros, Babel, 21 Grams ), which explains the style of directing Edge of Heaven. Hanna Schygulla gives an exceptional performance in the role of the mother of the German young student. And a very artistic ending. Also a great choice of the sound track maybe due to his experience as a DJ.

Edge of Heaven is the second movie of a trilogy . The first movie is HEAD ON. Fatih Akin German of Turkish parents shows in his movies the shock of societies and cultures between East and West.

EDGE OF HEAVEN is a powerful story and an artistic piece of movie making
