Let's Get Lost
Series: Jazz Sessions: The Greats on Camera
Director: Bruce Weber, Country: USA, Release: 1988, Runtime: 120, Rating: NR
"Stunning . . . a gorgeous gravestone for the Beat Generation's legacy of beautiful-loser chic." (Village Voice)
Chet Baker's ravaged, iconic face tells the story. After three decades of fame, the impossibly handsome and talented trumpeter-singer, who epitomized '50s cool, had surrendered to heroin and booze. Famed photographer Bruce Weber filmed the musician in the year before he died, shooting haunting, lushly beautiful images in rich black and white, and talking to Baker's fellow players, family, and lovers. All this is interwoven with performance footage in a deeply involving documentary.
