Kimmel page clearly says "US theatrical release on 24 October 2008, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. "

Well, this is actually more likely to be at the Landmark Sunshine. But, hope springs eternal. We're going to the movies! Yay! I hear rumors there's another muppet movie in the works, but until that comes out, I'm most excited about this.

From the Being Charlie Kaufman site:
Playwright Caden Cotard is having what might be termed a bad life. His marriage falls apart. He seems to be dying of a mysterious illness that is systematically shutting down his autonomic functions. His ex-wife heads off to Germany with their daughter and her friend. The friend gradually turns Caden's daughter into a lesbian Nazi. But hey, he's received a Macarthur Grant, and sets about producing a work "big and true and tough. You know, finally put my real self into something." To that end, Caden builds a scale replica of New York in a warehouse and fills it with scores of actors - some of them playing Caden's real-life friends and acquaintances, one playing Caden himself. As the project evolves, reality and fantasy meld. Is anything in this movie really happening? Are we just seeing reality as Caden perceives it? What's with the house that's always on fire? How come time flows so strangely? What does it all mean, if any of it means anything? Easily the least commercial of all Charlie's scripts so far, this one's set for release later in 2008.
The least commercial! This probably means you're going to hate it, but smugly pretend you like it. Yeah, you don't fool me. You'll be like this guy.

So, I'm a portly, middle-aged gentleman*. I look like my picture. If I can find it, I'll have the sign Beth laminated for me. I'll be out in front of the theatre, or on the ramp just inside the doors by the ticket machines if it's cold or rainy. Or snowy. It could be snowy.

We'll do this, then we'll head over to Bite. You'll be as happy as little clams. Seriously, if this isn't the best night of your life, you have to work harder at staying in the moment.

* or a cad. I'll let you decide.

Cynthia. I don't know where it will be. Theaters don't normally fess up to showing a movie until two days before they start, so I'll be able to give you a definite theater less than five days in advance.

Synecdoche, New York should screen at Cannes tomorrow; it'll then get a buyer and a release date.
