What is the Parade Route? ( couldn’t find the link to the map-Polky so I'l lost and thought I'd send this along):

The parade route is 2.5 miles. It steps off from the intersection of Mount Vernon and Jett Ferry at 9:30 a.m., proceeds west on Mount Vernon to Dunwoody Village Parkway. Turn right and follow the right side of median to Calico Corners, turn left into Dunwoody Village parking lot. Volunteers will guide you to parade parking. It takes approximately 1 hour to walk the entire parade route. You can view a map of the parade route on the Dunwoody Crier website – visit www.thecrier.net.

Also of note for those interested:

Post 10822 will be collecting items during the parade to be sent to members of the armed forces overseas. Pack 454 Cub Scouts Kingswood United Methodist Church, will be assisting the post collecting items along the parade route and in the closing area. The following is a list of recommended items to be collected: Books/magazines; toiletries travel size; (tooth paste and brushes, shaving items, shampoo, deodorants, etc.); DVD’s,CD’S, & tapes; calendars, stationary, pens, holiday greeting cards: Kool Aid powered drinks; chap stick, baby wipes, snacks.

I can also recommend, from reading Paul Galan’s blog site (he’s stationed in Afghanistan and helping to build the Shank Forward Operating Base) Itunes gift cards (they have internet access, Ipod headphones (they do wear out), and silly stuff like the makings for smores are really appreciated-gives them something to do and laugh about, bandanas for face cover during dust storms, wrap around sunglasses for same, magazines (PG because of Islam religion in the region), stuff to decorate for their holiday and other parties, (like “Happy Birthday” banners, cake decorations and Christmas lights), blank greeting cards that they can send home to loved ones, candy of all kinds. For those in Afghanistan (numbers increasing daily) with winter coming up, really warm socks and scarves and gloves they can wear to bed at night and swap out for Armed-Forces-issued issued items in the morning to wear that day. Average of 151 inches of snowfall near Shank in the winter. They have all the video game systems and can use game cartridges. Baseballs, basketballs, footballs and volleyballs. Notes of appreciation. And anything that will make them laugh.

Hugs,

Suzy
